Unable to fix Samsung external SSD mounting errors

I had a Samsung external SSD disk for Time Machine backups. Worked fine for a while, but a few months ago when I plugged it in a dialog box appeared and immediately disappeared (so I could not read what it said), and the disk didn't mount. I tried Disk Utility, but the external disk didn't show up at all. I figured there was something wrong with the disk, so I chucked it and bought a new one (also Samsung SSD). When I plug it in I get the same behavior, dialog box quickly disappears and disk doesn't show up in Disk Utility. Any ideas how to get it to mount?

Oh. The questions I was asking you is after the external drive is discoverable but cannot be accessible. Lets backtrack. One thing to try go to Finder then preferences click on the tab labeled sidebar on the top menu bar. scroll a little bit. Select the option External disks under locations to list your external drives in the finder side bar. It may have been checked off. Make sure its checked on.
