Warranty Starts on Original Purchase Date - So You Can Buy a New Phone and it’s Out of Warranty

Why does Apple base their warranties on purchase date rather than activation date? I just purchased a new iPhone 12 Mini in a sealed box that had never been activated. But because it was originally purchased in 2021, it’s out of warranty and ineligible for AppleCare. That’s not fair to all of us who purchase products from third party sellers.

iPhone 12 mini, 17
