“macOS could not be installed on your computer” error

i purchased the IMac in 2005


Can anyone help me with this? I just turned on my IMac 27” Model No: A1419 for the first time in over 6 years. It is showing the following error “ macOS could not be installed on your computer” A disk with a mount point is required. : (69854

I think you mean "2015." That fits "A1419," and there were no 27-inch iMacs in 2005.


Was the computer working properly when last used?


Is the current macOS version 10.10 as shown in your equipment line?


See if it starts in Safe Mode: Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support


If you get a desktop with Safe Mode, let the computer sit unused in Safe Mode for about 30 minutes so that mode can do its housekeeping.


If not, hold OPTION at startup to bring up the Startup Manager. Does that show your boot volume? If so, select that volume and click the button thatt continues the boot process. If the computer sat off wall power for six years, its internal backup battery is surely dead, causing the computer to forget where its startup volume is located.


You may need to run Disk Utility > First Aid from Recovery if that part of the hard drive is working:
