I need help choosing the right AirPods for me

I have 2nd Gen AirPods. The hard sharp edge hurts my ears every time I use them. The left one has connection problems with the charger that can only be solved by me bashing the case against a hard surface. I should have thrown them out a long time ago but I like the sound quality and I like that they don't cancel out all other noise. I like to be able to hear what is going on around me. I see the AirPods Pro have soft tips. Do they cancel all noise (I hope not)? can I get a small size that won't fill up my whole ear? Besides being expensive, they have a bunch of features that I not only do not want because those features are bothersome and not helpful for me, and make the price very high.

I want air pods that won't cut my ear and don't do the dumb automatic stuff (like connect to my kid's iPad and disconnect from my phone as I walk by) that interferes with me using them and don't cancel all noise and will charge properly. Is that even possible? If so I am open to suggestions. I have purchased other wireless head phones that are soft but they are always too large for my ears, cancel all the noise, etc. or are not ideal in other ways. thanks for the help.
