How to find the owner of found AirPods?

Found them at airport parking lot, in the rain. Dried them and got them to work. Did the "identify item" and got a first name, but no lost message. Changed the name to "found your airpods*my phone number*"

What else can I do?

I'm keeping them on and charged.

If the owner has enabled Find My, then they should be able to see their airpods location since they are with you and you have connected to them, you may even get a notification on your phone just because they are nearby.

If you go into the Find My app on your iPhone, go to ITEMS, then IDENTIFY ITEMS, you may be able to see any other information.

(I have personally tried this with friend's airpods and nothing happened).

Thank you! I, myself, don't have an iPhone, so I was lost... But I remembered I had an old iPad, so I was able to use that. The article you suggested advice to take it to the PD, so I don't have a random person coming to my house. I hope she gets a hold of me soon so I can send them to her, because I doubt the police dept will have the time to keep it charged in order for her to track it. Thank you very much for the info!
