Can I connect one AirPod in one case to another?

Hi! I’m the one who has a problem connecting the AirPods. First, let me tell you about the story. I fell my right AirPods down the water pipe on the street that couldn’t open. I borrowed a friend's right AirPod of the same model and replaced the missing right one. I tried to connect it with my case. It shows on the screen that I can be connected, but I can’t listen to it or hear any sound on it. The question is, can I connect AirPods from different cases? Can my friend's right AirPods be used to replace my right AirPods that fell out of the water pipe?

thank you for any answer :-)

It should be possible, they are designed for that.

  1. Put both AirPods in your charging case.
  2. Connect the case to a power source, close the lid and wait 20 minutes.
  3. Open the lid and check the status light. It should flash amber.
  4. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for 15 seconds until the status light starts flashing white.
  5. Go to the Home Screen on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
  6. Open the case — with your AirPods inside — and hold it next to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. A setup animation will appear on your screen.
  7. Tap Connect, then tap Done.
