Press the command+space bar on your keyboard to bring up the emoji window, you can search for a star and a number of other emojis.

Launchpad Op Sys: macOS Ventura. Version 13.0 When I bring up "Launchpad" it displays numbers 1 through to the end of the icons. The numbers do not match up with the icons. star (aka asterisk) character is Shift-8 [*]
