Changing "not valid or no longer supported" Apple ID to current ID

I have an old iPad mini that I just charged after 5 years of it sitting in my car, forgotten and alone. It is connected to an Apple ID I changed probably 4 years ago and is currently not valid or no longer supported. I have tried logging into the old account on my laptop just to make sure - Apple is still telling me the email address is not valid or no longer supported. This iPad has Find iPhone, not Find My... which tells you how old it is (I think it's 1st gen) and I can't do anything with it because of my ID. I have access to the old email address it was connected to, if that makes a difference.

Is there anyway to get this logged in to my current Apple ID?

Is this the method you used to change your Apple ID?

My guess is you did not use this method, in which case you look like a different person and your case is likely hopeless.

If you did use this method, I would try using your revised Apple ID and see if that works.

Considering the length of time and my estimate of it having only been four years (who knows, maybe it was 8 years ago?), I'm only assuming I did the method above, thanks. This however does not, as I've stated several times, change the issue I am having. I'm only reaching out because my searches, which have all been severely outdated, are useless and was hoping there was something more engineered, like pushing stupid buttons in a certain manner.
