How do I enable call ending sound on iPhone 15 Pro?

When the call ends, I don't hear any sound or beeping. Sometimes it’s super annoying that I don’t even know that other party has already left the call or the call has been dropped.

The absence of a sound after a call ends is largely a design choice made by cellular service providers. There are several reasons why they might choose not to include such a feature:

  1. User Preference: Some users may find a beep or any additional sounds after ending a call to be unnecessary or annoying. Cellular service providers aim to design interfaces that cater to a wide range of user preferences.
  2. Minimalist Design: Many mobile interfaces follow a minimalist design philosophy, aiming for simplicity and unobtrusiveness. Adding a beep after each call may go against this design principle.
  3. Consistency Across Platforms: Different mobile operating systems and devices may have different call end sounds or tones. By not incorporating a universal beep sound, service providers avoid potential inconsistencies and compatibility issues.
  4. Cultural Sensitivity: Cultural preferences also play a role. What might be considered a polite or standard sound in one culture could be perceived differently in another. Service providers may choose a neutral approach to avoid unintentional cultural misunderstandings.
  5. Focus on Visual Cues: Mobile devices often provide visual cues on the screen to indicate the end of a call, such as displaying the call duration or returning to the home screen. This reduces the reliance on audible cues for call termination.

While many phones and applications offer the option to customize notification sounds, including the end-of-call sound/beep, it ultimately depends on the choices made by the device manufacturer and the cellular service provider. If users desire a beep/sound after a call, they can explore settings or third-party applications that allow customization of notification sounds.

What Call? On an iPhone, you can make and receive various types of calls. Here are the different types:

  1. These are standard voice calls made over the cellular network. They utilize your carrier's voice network to connect you with other phone numbers. Allow phone calls on your iPad, iPod touch, and Mac
  2. FaceTime Audio allows you to make voice calls over Wi-Fi or cellular data using your internet connection. It provides higher audio quality compared to traditional cellular calls.
  3. FaceTime Video enables you to have video calls with other FaceTime users. It uses the front or rear camera on your iPhone to transmit live video during the call. Use FaceTime with your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support (IN)
  4. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls use internet connectivity to make phone calls. Apps like Skype, WhatsApp, Viber, and Google Hangouts utilize this technology, allowing you to make voice and video calls over the Internet.
  5. Some carriers support Wi-Fi calling, which allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network instead of relying solely on cellular coverage. This can be useful in areas with weak cellular reception. Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling - Apple Support (IN)
  6. The App Store offers numerous calling apps that utilize different technologies. These apps can provide additional features and options for making calls, such as international calling, call recording, and more.

It's important to note that the availability of certain call types may depend on your iPhone model, iOS version, and carrier.

For assistance with Voice Calls on a cellular network, please reach out to your carrier and inquire about a resolution.

Ending a voice call gracefully is an important aspect of communication etiquette. Here are some tips on how to end voice calls politely:

  1. Signal Intentions to End: Before abruptly ending the call, give a clear indication that you need to finish the conversation. You can say something like, "I should get going" or "I need to wrap up soon."
  2. Express Appreciation: Thank the person for the conversation. This shows respect for their time and contribution to the call.
  3. Summarize or Recap: Briefly summarize the key points discussed in the conversation. This not only helps in reinforcing the main takeaways but also signifies that you were actively engaged.
  4. Provide a Reason: If applicable, provide a brief reason for ending the call. For example, you might have another appointment, need to attend to something urgent, or simply have reached the end of the allotted time.
  5. Set Expectations for Follow-up: If there are action items or if you plan to follow up on certain topics, mention this before ending the call. It ensures that everyone is on the same page regarding the next steps.
  6. Ask for Confirmation: Before ending the call, ask if there's anything else the other person would like to discuss or clarify. This ensures that both parties have had an opportunity to address their concerns.
  7. Use Polite Closing Phrases: End the call with polite closing phrases such as "It was great talking with you," or "I look forward to our next conversation." This helps maintain a positive tone.
  8. Avoid Sudden Hang-ups: Try to avoid abruptly ending the call without any warning or closing remarks. Sudden hang-ups can be perceived as rude or disrespectful.
  9. Check for Questions or Concerns: Before ending the call, make sure that the other person doesn't have any lingering questions or concerns. This ensures that both parties are satisfied with the discussion.
  10. Be Mindful of Time: Respect the time commitments of both parties. If the call is scheduled for a specific duration, try to end it within the agreed-upon timeframe.

Remember that the specific etiquette may vary based on cultural norms and the nature of the relationship with the person you are speaking to. Adjust your approach accordingly to ensure effective and respectful communication.
