i want to do the software update on my macbook

My Macbook pro has 10.11.6 version software, I bought this in 2015. I would like to update my OS, But there is no software update available in my app store. How do i update my Mac. Because of this issue, I cant able to download any latest applications, photoshop softwares etc.. Kindly provide solution on this...How can i use this mac further...

You'll need to provide some more details regarding the exact model (including the year) Mac you have. These details are available by clicking on the Apple menu-->About This Mac. Without knowing these details, we don't know what the latest MacOS your Mac supports.
