My mac not compatible

You say you have a "macbook air 11." Apple released six versions of the MacBook Air.

• Late 2010 and Mid 2011 models can upgrade to High Sierra, but no further.
• Mid 2012 models can upgrade to Catalina, but no further.
• Mid 2013 models and Early 2014 models can upgrade to Big Sur, but no further.
• Early 2015 models can upgrade to Monterey, but no further. Monterey is one of the "most recent three" that is still likely to get security updates from Apple, and that gets the most "love" from application vendors.

If you upgrade to Catalina or later,

• 32-bit applications will stop working .
• iTunes will go away, replaced by separate applications: What happened to iTunes? - Apple Support .
• You will be able to install the current version of Firefox instead of the older Firefox 115 ESR .
• You will be able to install the current version of the LibreOffice package.

Updating a Mac Past macOS 10.13 High Sierra:

I. Compatibility Restrictions:

If your device cannot be upgraded past macOS High Sierra (10.13). This is because for Mojave (10.14) it does not meet hardware requirements.

II. Two Important Streps to Upgrading: Back Up, then Upgrade

A. Back Up Prior to the Installation:

Create a Time Machine Backup prior to the install, that way, you can have something to restore your Mac from, should anything go wrong with the upgrade. Use an external hard drive that is at least 1.5 the total storage capacity as that of your internal hard drive.

3. Click: macOS High Sierra 10.13
4. Proceed with the install
