Apple Pay for 13 year old in UK

Hi, it was my Son’s 13th

birthday a couple of days ago and he’d like to start using Apple Pay for convenience. He has an existing debit card but when we click on ‘Add Card’ in the wallet app, it comes up ‘Cannot add card - payment cards are not supported for this account’. It’s nothing to do with the type of card/bank as we do not even get to input any card details. We have reset all phone settings as recommended elsewhere but it has not helped. Anyone able to help please?

Is his age correct on his Apple ID Account?


Update the birth date associated with your Apple ID - Apple Support


Is the iOS version the latest?


Update iOS on iPhone - Apple Support


Have you done a forced restart? It more than just turning off and on. Please follow instructions in the Apple Support article.


Force restart iPhone - Apple Support


Please logout and back into his Apple ID.


Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support


Have you setup a Family Sharing Group and is the updated ID the one you’re inviting to the group?


Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support


Lastly, follow the instructions in the Apple Support article below.


Set up Apple Pay in Wallet on iPhone - Apple Support
