Save on iCloud only - Not locally
I pay for 2TB iCloud storage and would like to transfer 300GB from my external hard drive to the cloud. Apple support said I could compress the files (so long as each compressed folder doesn't exceed 50GB) and extract them in iCloud.com but this didn't work, it says it is unable to be opened.
I've already tried using finder and moving them over from the external drive to the iCloud folder but then I get an error saying my iMacs hard drive is full.
How can I upload 300GB of photographs from my external hard drive to the cloud without storing them all locally on my Mac, I don't want them downloaded to the Mac, simply uploaded to the cloud only so they are viewable on the Mac but stored on the cloud.
I currently have "Optimise Mac Storage" within iCloud+ settings selected as recommended but whether it is enable to disabled doesn't seem to make a difference.
Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me crazy.
