There have been hacks that can mostly work with that relocation, but with no support and sometimes with issues.

The easiest way is to switch to an external SSD that’s large enough, and boot from that. Which is AFAIK supported.

I would not move the home user folder to another drive since a macOS update can break that setup. This occurred several times with macOS Monterey & Ventura. While it should have been a simple matter to resolve, it took almost a week before a couple of users figured it out due to having the mount point names being modified by Apple because of duplicate names. macOS does not like surprises or deviations from default setups. This setup was broken for over six months before later macOS updates no longer broke that custom configuration.

Plus, people had issues restoring from Time Machine backups with these customized setups (either with the setup or trouble restoring to another Mac which did not utilize the custom setup).

Are you willing to take the time to research & fix it if things break?

The only supported option with actual official Apple documentation and instructions is for moving your Photo & Music libraries to another drive (make sure to backup this external drive as well):

Move your Photos library to save space on your Mac - Apple Support

Change where your music files are stored on Mac - Apple Support

Your other option is just to store all your files (or at least the large files) on an external data drive (make sure you backup this external drive).
