iPad 10 generation and Apple Pencil usb C - pencil says connected but will not write

i have an Apple Pencil USB C and a iPad 10th generation. Both were bought in Feb 2024. The Apple Pencil was working fine up until last night. I used it for about a half hour and then placed it in its spot in my case. I took it out to use again and realized it wouldn’t write. I have tried the following with no luck:

  1. restarting my iPad several times
  2. forgetting the Apple Pencil several times
  3. reseting my network settings
  4. charging both devices to 100%
  5. I restarted my iPad with the pencil connected
  6. i forgot the device and restarted my iPad then repaired the pencil.
  7. my iPad is updated to OS 17.3.1

Has anyone else had this issue and can assist in fixing it?

As described, the Apple Pencil has successfully paired with the iPad. Inconsistent drawing will either be due to a problem with the Pencil itself, or its interaction with the iPad screen.

Ensure that the user-replaceable Pencil tip is snugly screwed into the body of the Apple Pencil; when fitted correctly you should see a tiny gap, of about the thickness of a sheet of paper, between the tip and pencil body. If slightly loosened, or overtightened, the Pencil may not work properly, if at all.

If the Pencil has been dropped onto its tip, or if the tip has been subjected to unnecessary force, the transducer element that its located beneath the replaceable plastic tip may have been damaged; a damaged Pencil cannot be repaired - only replaced.

If you need assistance, the technicians at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) will be able to fully test and assess your iPad and Apple Pencil:
