Excel Recent files not opening after changing User Password

I have a very annoying issue with both Excel and Word files.

Having recently changed my user password on my M3 iMac (two days ago), when I try and open Excel or Word files from their "Recently Open File" viewers I get the following error.

Nothing else has changed on the iMac, the files are held on the local HD and are there, no one else can access the file and I can open all the files direct from Finder in the folder without issue with Excel or Word.

To solve: I have remove the file from Recent Files list in Excel, then opened it again. It reappears in the Recent list but shows the same error when opening. I have opened the file and made a change a save it back, still it won't open. However if I make a brand new file it opens without issue from the recent viewer.

The folder where it is <Documents> is set to Read/Write for my login.

Version of Excel and Word are both up to date and 365 subscriptions

MAC OS is 14.3.1 (23D60)

I have search the forum and web, others have seen similar issues but no one has posted a solution.

Periodic password changing is normal practice so can not see why this will have caused the issue. Looks to be a MAC OS issue as its permissions related. MS help also offered no solutions for a MAC OS user.

Clear suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Thanks, only thing I can think of is Apple's increasing usages of Persistent Caches, a deep cache cleaning may help in that respect, and that this would be your cure, but to show how weird it can be... I've seen a half dozens times where nothing cured it except a simple logging out & into another account the out of that account & log back into the original account & unsolvable problem was gone... no restart, no cleaning, no anything else help.

Please remember it is up to the developers to ensure their apps play well with the version of Mac OS installed. This is why Apple (and every other software developer) provides beta versions of their software to developers so the developers can thoroughly revise and update their apps to ensure it's compatible with future releases of the platforms they intend to run on. MS has probably done that, one thing that users frequently miss though is updating their apps after updating Mac OS. This ensures the third party software is synced with the correct version of Mac OS. Have you done that yet?
