Modify the amount of footer rows in Pages

Hi all,

By default there are three columns for headers and footers in Pages and I've been desperately trying to change that by going to Format / Table / Footer rows .. and that's where I stand for the moment because most of my Format menu is greyed out.

Will appreciate any advice, I need one long footer row to fit the topic of my class in it.

Thanks

You are looking at table settings, and the three-segment document headers and footers are not tables. Thus, you cannot change those document header or footer segments to one segment. But, if you start typing that class topic in one header or footer segment, you will see that the segment bars will move to the right once you exceed its default size.

The document header and footer are not tables, despite having that appearance. Thus, there is no concept of adding rows to a non-table entity.

However, they are a special form of Text Box, and if you click in the first footer segment and paste a large block of text, two things will be apparent: 1) the segments disappear and if if the content is too large, you will get the Text Box overflow symbol ⊞ at the bottom, and 2) the box will expand upward where it intrudes on the body text forcing a premature flow of the body text to a next page.
