AirPod pros pausing for notification

Recently my AirPod pros have started pausing my music for any and all notifications. Even when an exercise ring closes during a workout. This has never happened pre but started out of the blue last week. Also when I start an exercise on my watch my fitness focus on the phone doesn’t start now. Both these problems started together. I have already restarted both my phone and my watch and un synced my AirPods and re synced them to no avail.
