Reset Mini M1 redirects upon first use of Safari

Im not certain what else i can do. I first downloaded Open Office then found i had a redirecting virus. I did resets twice but upon 1st attempt to go to a website i get a redirect. It happens after i get a warning that im not visiting an https. When i click the Go there button i am redirected. Both times this has happened with a complete reset-no data transferred.

the first time it happened i dowloaded the Mac malware tool plus bought the Malware Bytes. Neither one found anything.

so i did a second complete reset. This time i did not download anything but do the normal setup. Then went to a site i know is safe...and bam! Another redirect at first use.

This mini is unusable unless i can fix it.

Thank you for the reply. Yes, I did look at those, and I downloaded two different malware apps. But I did find it...finally!! I didn't even consider this but it makes perfect sense. My internet router used to have a private password, but then had to reset and I have just been using the default printed on the bottom. One I went in and reset my router, I had no more problems. this makes perfect sense because my iPad that I hadn't used in a long time had the same virus when I used it the other night.

I hope this helps others... I just couldn't see how a brand new computer could get redirects like that. Thanks again for your help.

See if this helps...

Safari > Preferences > Extensions.

Look for extensions that you do not recognize, then remove them. Once done, you need to change your homepage and preferred search engine on Safari.
