I'm not quite sure what you mean by "current replacement equivalent" since Intel Macs are no longer being produced. You might be able to find one on Apple's Refurbished Mac - MacBook Pro page, but none were available when I checked a moment ago.
You can consider a current production model with an identical amount of storage, but any M series Mac will outperform your current Intel model. Other than screen size storage capacity is really the only criterion for which there is no appreciable difference among models.

I believe the author was indicating the MacBook Pro 16,3 whose suffix 2TB3 indicates TWO ThunderBolt-3 ports, not to be confused with the 16,2 model with FOUR ThunderBolt-3 ports. I did not see any statement about memory size or drive size.

Ok I understand. You're probably correct, but the cheapest current model would have only 512GB storage. Configuring it with 2 GB brings the price to $2200.
