iOS 17.4 typing issues with Notes App

-Lost all my notes.

-Lost 600 iTunes songs I paid for over the last 10 years.

-Half my contacts are gone.

3 hrs on phone with Tier 2 applesupport didn't resolve any issues. They said they'd call back back the next day with solutions. Still waiting.....

They had me restore phone to previous backup b/4 update. None of the above came back. These are critical issues. Apple needs to send a fix, but I suspect it will not help in my case.

Me, too! Since upgrading to iOS 17.4 on my iPhone 13 Pro, I've noticed something similar with my car, a 2022 Chevrolet Blazer LT3 (running the latest software). The only exception is that I can disconnect my iPhone and reconnect it and it will work but it takes about a minute to reconnect. I'm not using Gracenote but it's been extremely flaky after the update. Waze and Apple Maps lock up all the time now. I can usually unfreeze it by tapping the car's infotainment system Home button and then going back into CarPlay. I agree that CarPlay is getting worse with each update.

I have no idea what a loud spiker is, but it doesn’t sound like an issue regarding the Notes app. Rather than tag on to this 7 page thread about Notes, you should start a new thread which will appear at the top of the iPhone page and is more likely to get attention. Just click on Ask The Community at the top of this page and repost your issue.

Iphone 15 Pro Max

1. Itunes Store stuck in “preparing to download…” when trying to download purchased song;
2. Battery draining so fast, feel warmer than before the update.

Bugs noticed since I updated last night:

• Camera (app loaded from locked screen) shut down showing only black and no image, and did not register any actions until shutting the phone off with side button and reactivating then unlocking phone. This happened 4 times in a row and I lost the 20 pictures I took each time (completely gone, even though they showed up in the locked screen camera roll initially)
• Search in notes does not work and yields no results
• Apple Health data duplicated, but only partially at times(?) - As in sometimes there are exact duplicate entries, and sometimes there are entries with duplicate times but different counts or duplicate counts with times differing by one or two minutes. It weirdly only seems to have effected certain dates and time periods on those days, but has changed all my tracked data historically. (I only use an iPhone for tracking and use no other apps or devices)
• Contact info appears/disappears (ie, my phone call history will change from a list of contacts’ names to just their phone numbers/email addresses).
• Repeated prompts for Apple ID password to log into my Cloud (presumably because I’m being kicked out?)
• Noticeable lag in all website loading
• Repeated drop offs into SOS mode (while sitting at home under WiFi, not moving)

I know I’m forgetting more…

This is the most insane collection of simultaneous bugs I’ve ever experienced. Doooo sooooomethinggggg Apple…

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem. 

In the Notes app, if I create a simple note (a few words, no links, no formatting) on my iPhone in 17.4 and lock the note on the phone, that I cannot open it on my old laptop running Mac OS Monterey 12.7.4 [interesting coincidence with the version numbers].

1. At first I thought it was a note-link issue, but it is not.
2. And if I copy / paste the contents of the note into a new, unlocked note on the iPhone, it opens just fine on the Mac.
3. If I lock it on the Mac then I can open it on the phone. If I unlock and lock it on the phone, it's OK.
4. BUT, on the phone, if I unlock it, make a change, then lock it, then I can no longer open it on the Mac.

This must be fixed. I have several critical locked notes.

NOTES APP - SEARCH NOT WORKING - SOLVED!

(in my case)

These are the steps I followed (though they may not ALL be necessary)

1. Scroll to Notes app from “Settings”
2. Then on that page under “ALLOW NOTES TO ACCESS” tap on “Siri & search”
3. Under “WHILE SEARCHING” turn on the switch “Show App in Search”
4. The “Show Content in Search” switch option then appears - turn this on
5. Go back a step and tap “Accounts”
6. Under ACCOUNTS choose “iCloud”
7. This takes you to “Apple ID”
8. Choose “iCloud”
9. Under “APPS USING ICLOUD” choose “Show All”
10. Choose “Notes”
11. On my iPhone “Sync this iPhone” was turned on but ”Manage Storage” had a spinning wheel
12. Turn off the switch but STOP THERE and DON’T  tap “Delete from My iPhone” - tap “Cancel” instead
13. Tap “Manage Storage”
14. DO NOT “Delete from iCloud” but go back a step
15. On my iPhone the amount of storage then appeared
16. I stopped there and checked my Notes app and low & behold search was working again

Just installed 17.4 to my Iphone 14 Battery life went from 100% battery health to 89%

After iOS 17.4 my phone is overheating a bunch

Is anyone facing screen discolouration? Like the dark greys starting to look light grey?

Iphone 15, touch doesn't work at all, immediately after installed 17.4. Tried force restart but nothing. I can't do anything, have to send to apple service I guess... 🙄

Same here!! Updated my phone 2 nights ago and started last night of my phone not sending or receiving anything. Seems to work on wifi for a few hours then back to nothing working again.

Same here - Kernel Panicked and then just apple logo. Currently doing a restore 🤞🏻
