Macbook Air shutting down while plugged in with 100% battery. When restarting it has 0% and then shuts down frequently again while starting up

Over the last week my 2013 Macbook Air has shut down on a few occasions whilst plugged in and charging with 100% battery. When trying to start up it then shows 0% battery and regularly keeps shutting down again during the start up process.

I seem to get access again if I let it fully charge and then start up, but every few days I have to go through the same process.

I'm on MacOS Big Sur v.11.7.10.

What is causing my Macbook Air to dump all of its charge at once?
