How to regain access to lost avatars in text messages on iPad

It used to be one step to add your previously created avatar to a text message. All but one of mine disappeared, probably with the last update. Now to find those same avatars you have to go through about five steps, including press, the "+", then stickers, then edit, then when you played with it long enough, you finally get all your avatars back. Is there going to be an easier solution for those who can’t find their avatars? I seen the question on the forum with no answer.
