back up for new MacBook Air

I Just got a new MacBook Air and wanted to know if someone could suggest aa back up device for it. I have an iMac desktop and use Western Digital My Passport for Mac, but that won't work with my MacBook because the two usb ports on my MacBook are smaller than the usb plug that came with the Western Digital. The other plug on the new MacBook is just the magna safe charging port.

I keep getting a message that my MacBook isn't backed up and wold love to get a device soon.

Thank you

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 14.3

You'll want to use an external hard drive that has a cable with a USB C connection at each end. As you've discovered, the USB A ports on your iMac are physically different.

We recommend getting an external Time Machine backup drive that's at least twice the size of your MacBook.

OWC is a good place to shop for these, and they offer top notch support in the event you aren't sure what you need.

Hope this helps.
