Wireless Car Charging for iPhone 15

Hi everyone. I recently upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 15 (currently running iOS 17.3.1).

I have been using the wireless charging facility in my car without any issue on the iPhone 11. It always worked great. Unfortunately, the charge rate for my new iPhone 15 seems to be much much lower, to the point where battery is actually draining (during charge) while using typical in-car apps (Google Maps, Spotify etc.).

I haven't changed my app usage while driving, so I don't understand why the iPhone 15 isn't charging up properly (even when the phone battery is less than 80%). Is this a known issue? Do I need to make some settings changes?

Any help would be much appreciated here. Thank you in advance :)

I’ve seen issues with wireless charging pads and the iphone 15 compared to some older models because of the camera bump on the back of the 15. Either the phone is not laying completely flat on the charging pad because of the bump, or the case it’s in is too thick to allow efficient charging from a non magnetic charger.

Kindly have the vehicle inspected by a reputable car dealer and carefully review the Car Manual.

Thank you for the suggestion. FYI: I have since also tested the old iPhone 11; the charge works normally, but not on the iPhone 15 when I place that on the same charger immediately afterwards. There's nothing to make me think the problem is with the car.
