Mac Friendly Web Hosts?

Hello. I'm a very novice Mac user and am having a horrible time finding a web host that knows/supports Macs, has Mac compatible web-design programs, and that won't nickel and dime me to death for hosting, domain registration, e-commerce, etc. I only found one host that specifies Mac support as a feature, but all their add on costs really drove up the price (I'm just starting, I can't afford that!). I HAVE TO have web design tools/templates because I have no clue how to build a web page the "real" way! Most of the design programs the hosts are offering require IE or Netscape - too slow and too many problem. I'll need the support of a company familiar with the Apple operating system because I'm sure I'll hose something up!

If you're just starting out, I reccomend dreamweaver for design. If you are used to using any layout program, you'll get used to its "design" mode pretty quickly, and you will also be able to view the code so you can learn the html side of it (if that interests you). It should not matter where you got your domain name as long as it's a valid domain name registrant. If you need a shopping cart, your host should be able to set you up with one. You will need a merchant account from your bank unless you want to use paypal (or a similar service) or one of the shopping carts that works directly with quickbooks. My company also does design and/or hosting. The whole ocmpany uses macs, so that's not an issue. We are currently offering hosting for $30/quarter for sites that are under 20 pages. I notice quite a few people have replied with information about their companies. I don't want to overwhelm you, so I'll just give you my web address -

If you are interested or have any questions, you can call me at the number on the contact us page. Even if you go through a different company, feel free to call if you have trouble understanding anything your host is telling you or if you need any help with design. Mac people have to stick together!

I'm an illustrator, and also do web design (since 1993). I've been using a company called Dogbark.com, in Tennessee. Don't flame me - this is not an ad, and I have no affiliation with them. I don't care, frankly, if you use them or not. But they're good people, very reliable, and mos' def' speak Mac, so I'm happy to recommend them.

A fair number of artists and illustrators keep their sites with Dogbark. They are not bargain-basement priced, and don't have lightning fast servers (I upload to sites my clients have on upload multiple daily changes to a large site, that might drive you crazy.

BUT - when you call, someone answers. Someone polite, informed and very familiar with the Mac platform. And they will work it through with you until your problem is solved. For me, that is worth a LOT. I think basic plans are from $150-$200 US per year.
