Can I use my 2020 lightning cable on my new macbook pro that came with a magsafe charger?

I puechased a 2020 Macbook Pro and I accidently fried it with a spilled cup of coffee. So I had to purchase a new Macbook. It came with a magsafe charger but my old macbook had a lightning cable and a 60W charger.

I work at home and at the office, and would like to have my charger available both places without having to take it back and forth. I have used my old charger (60W) at home and Magsafe at work. Is it safe to use the 60W lightning cable with the new laptop?

Lightning cable is ONLY used on iDevices, not on Macs.

this is a reversible USB-C connector,

used by some Macs for charging and many other purposes.

Many of the latest Macs can be powered by either MagSafe-3 or USB-C.

if you provide too little power, your Mac can not run AND Charge at the same time, and battery levels may decline with the power adapter connected.

A better solution is to obtain a power adapter that is too large, which will never over-power your Mac. The Mac negotiates power at the level the Mac wants, and only when needed.

The cable that came with the Macbook is not Lightning. Lightning is only used on older iPhones and iPads. The Macbook Pro cable is Thunderbolt / USB-C
Yes, you can use the USB-C cable and charger to charge the new MacBook just fine.
