Can I use a 2012 magsafe charging cable on a 2020 macbook air M1
I have an old 17 inch Macbook Pro which has a magsafe charing cable. Can I use the same cable to charge a Macbook air 2020 MI?
MacBook Pro 17″, macOS 10.13

Hey there!
Regrettably, no. The MacBook Air (M1, 2020) doesn't use a MagSafe connector for charging. It has Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports that support charging.
If you need a new charger for your MacBook Air (M1, 2020), you can use the 240W USB-C Charge Cable (2 m) - Apple, and pair it with an Apple power adapter:
Hope this helps!

There have been several versions of MagSafe over the years.
The current version is MagSafe 3 – and as far as I know, there are no adapters to go from MagSafe 1 or 2 to 3. So you would not be able to use that old cable even with a MagSafe-3-equipped Apple Silicon notebook.
