Setting up an iPhone 12 for someone in their 80s can be very easy! Here are some steps to get you started with a user-friendly interface:

  1. Increase Accessibility:
    1. Text Size: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size. Choose "Larger Text" and adjust the slider for better readability.
    2. Bold Text: Enable "Bold Text" under the same Display & Text Size menu for improved contrast.
    3. Ringer Volume: Increase ringer and alert volume in Sounds & Haptics to ensure they don't miss calls.
  2. Home Screen Layout:
    1. Minimize Icons: Long press on any app icon to enter jiggle mode. Then, drag and drop apps to move them around. Create folders for similar apps (like Photos & Camera) to reduce clutter.
    2. Rearrange for Priority: Place the most used apps (Phone, Messages, Photos) on the bottom row of the dock for easy access.
  3. Contacts with Pictures:
    1. Add Pictures: Open the Contacts app and select a contact. Tap "Edit" and then tap on the photo icon. Choose a picture from their library or take a new one.
    2. Favorites List: Create a Favorites list for frequently contacted people. In the Contacts app, tap "Groups" and then "New Group". Name it "Favorites" and add desired contacts.
