App needs permission to use microphone, but Settings does not provide an option to allow it.

I searched and searched for the answer to this and finally found this: It sounds like you cannot grant microphone access to apps. You should check Screen Time settings to ensure microphone changes are allowed. Settings>Screen Time> Content & Privacy Restrictions> Microphone


After I did this, I rebooted my phone, and reinstalled google translator and I was finally able to grant access to the microphone. Note also, that I had the same problem with Apple Translator (indeed with any APP that needed permission to use the microphone) until I fixed this permission.
