Try plugging the charger in to a different power-point in case that one is faulty.

Try checking the cable to see if it is damaged.

Try plugging the charger into a different Mac port.

Check the connector at the end of the cable that plugs into your computer is secure.

Make sure the new charger has the correct connector for your Mac (Eg: USB-c / Thunderbolt etc.)

Inspect the Mac's ports to see if they are damaged or loose.

See if you can borrow another charger and see if that works, or if the Mac itself may have a problem.
