WhatsApp pics are appearing duplicated on Photos on iPhone

Same here for the last 3 days.

I’ve managed to delete the duplicates but don’t know how to stop it from happening again which it is. Go into photo gallery, tap on albums then scroll down to utilities & tap on duplicates it then explains how to merge the 2 photos! Can’t keep doing that though.

Same thing happening with me while downloading pics from the Canva app using ‘Save to photos’ option.

I also tried the option ‘Save to files’ which saved only a single photo.

So it looks more of a ‘Photos’ app issue and nothing related to Whatsapp or iOS.

Likewise for me too, iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I don’t think it’s an Apple issue, could be a WhatsApp bug. What versions of iOS and WhatsApp are people using? Does anyone have or know someone with Android and having the same issue?

This picture issue of saving every pic duplicate is happening with me too after updating 17.4.

i feel now a days Apple has become the android wherein they don’t test the update and every now and then there is a new issue comes up.

Very poor battery back up for iPhones, AirPods and Apple Watches too. If we spend half of this money for any android we will get a fantastic battery back up. Android was famous for their updates and now Apple has also started this drama. As if we are spending 200-300 dollars for the products. Pathetic performance Apple. Highly disappointed.

I too facing this issue from couple of days. Firstly I don’t think this is related to 17.4 update because I have not yet updated still I am facing this issue.

Secondly for sure it’s issue only because I don’t have this issue on my android device yet.

@apple Please fix this asap.

It's very annoying. It started after I installed the recent update from WhatsApp Version 2.24.5.73 on my iPhone. I opened a ticket at Whatsapp support . I urge you to do the same. Hopefully Whatsapp will fix it soon. Thanks.

i also noticed this today after updating to IOS 17.4 yesterday. There is also no solution yet in the web.

would be better if we could roll back the ios as an alternate option if apple did allow this, while they fix their glitches.

Same here, I even uninstalled WhatsApp and installed it again and now this applies to the photos I send. As a summary, every photo incoming and outcoming is saved twice and I have noticed this only after uploading to latest iOS version 17.4, but I feel is more of a WhatsApp global issue. It's very frustrating. My partner is having the same problem.

I have the same problem. I thought that I might have changed some settings on my phone by accident. I do however done a Whatsupp update on Friday and it looks as if the duplicated problem started just after the update.

I raised this issue with WhatsApp also.

This response is utter nonsense.

I think is issue started happening post WhatsApp’s last app update 2 days ago. I haven’t updated my OS, but app updates are set to happen automatically on my phone. I’ve sent them an email as well. Awaiting a reply

Well, given that there is no official fix from Apple and/or Whatsapp, the immediate solution would be to turn off autosave photos in Whatsapp settings to prevent floodgates of duplicated photos in the Photo Album as well as save storage space.

Thats the same thing happening @apple

i am a trader and i get more than 200 pics of stock report on daily basis and its so annoying to delete all the repeated pics

Hi - I found the fix for the duplicate pics issue. If you find an update for Whatsapp, please update it to 2.24.5.74 and this issue is resolved.

You can check if there is an update available by going to -> Apple Store -> Search for "Whatsapp"->Click Whatsapp Messenger -> If there is an update button available, click it and once its updated, you will no longer see this issue.
