WhatsApp pics are appearing duplicated on Photos on iPhone

Were the software updates tested thoroughly before being rolled out? Every software update list just basic features that will change, but then actual users are forced to numerous issues and new behaviour. These are non tested bugs which are directly pushed on to users.

This has happened to me since the last upgrade. Any photos sent to me in Wotsapp which are saved to photo gallery are duplicating. Looked for solution and nothing yet I can identify to solve the issue. Maybe the next upgrade will sort it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have been facing similar issue for like 2 days now. I tried to stop whatsapp autosave but all fruitless. Knowing it’s a general issue is a bit making me calm. I hope it gets fixed soon because it’s so annoying

I have the same problems, start today 11.03.2024, at 11.30 am German time.

I didn’t use or change any settings, it’s just happen. I don’t know what to do.

the Apple make now more problems then before when you update your phone your soft, (IOS), I can’t use my Face ID properly and now this, that’s a problem for me, and others, so crazy. If someone know what to do, just tell us 👍

I think the problem it’s from update, because I make my update today at 1 am and I see this problem after the update, even if we call WhatsApp what they will do?? I think this kind of problem need to be resolved from Apple and not WhatsApp

Me too. What’s going on? I never log in and reply to posts. But this is really annoying! Especially when apparently my iCloud is too full? Is that why? So we have to upgrade to store all this! Will Apple fix the problem 🙏

I don't think the root cause is related to update the IOS 17.4, because of my iphone IOS ver.17.3.1 is also encountered same duplicate photos from whatsapp download, but this issue is happened in iphone user only, the android user seems not this problem. I have asked Appleshop staff, they answered that this problem may be conflicted issues between IOS and whatsapp version of iphone. No solution to fix this bug at this moment until the next version update between IOS and whatsapp.

Same problem with my iPhoneSE running IOS17.4. Have latest version of WhatsApp. Tried contacting them and was directed to Help Center Media page which just tells you how to turn off saving media to Photos. So still waiting for solution.

THANK YOU! It looked like I had the latest version and it showed WhatsApp last updated on 3/8. I followed your instructions and found the option to update. I hope this fixes the issue. I’ll find out the next time a photo is shared with me!

Hi, I had the same problem - the photos from whatsapp were saved twice. Today I wrote to whatsapp support. They told me to uninstall and reinstall whatsapp and sign in again. I did it and turned off my phone and then turned it on again and now it’s working!!! 😀 Only one cooy of the photos are saved!
