How to recover lost songs from iTunes?

Once upon a time I downloaded all of my CDs into itunes. All that music has disappeared. Is it gone forever? I can only find things I have since purchased in the app. This is making me sad.

Recovering deleted song I was editing a playlist and deleted some purchased songs from it; however, the songs also disappeared from my library as a whole. I went to the iTunes Store > More > Purchased > Music > but they don't even show up there. How can I recover those songs? Thanks.
