iPhone SE 1st gen software update 15.8.2 locked up my phone

After installing 15.8.2, my phone shows the following message:

"Software Update

Your iPhone has been updated to

IOS 15.8.2"

and a blue "OK"

No matter how many times I select OK, the phone does nothing. Cannot log in, cannot shut down. Completely locked out.

Holding the power button down for 10 (or even 15) seconds has no effect at all.

Any guidance on forcing a shut down is welcome.

iPhone SE, iOS 15

Hello ScottyMacD,

To Force Restart your iPhone SE (1st gen), simply follow these steps:

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Hopefully this resolves the issue. If your iPhone is still frozen after following this advice, try to contact Apple Support since this seems to be a (possibly) widespread problem.

Here’s a similar post from Apple Communities that may provide additional help since the user seems to have successfully resolved the problem: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/254687048?sortBy=best
