Apple touch icon not displayed by Safari (even if site has apple touch icon)

As you can verify directly, the apple touch icon is configured properly (with link rel="apple-touch-icon") for this website:

https://newsletter.page/apple-touch-icon.png

However Safari on MacOS (in the Home Screen, under "frequently visited") keeps showing a default placeholder (letter "N" with blue background) instead of the actual apple touch icon.

two fingers swipe back on safari when browsing safari on the most recent page and only the back button is bold the two fingers swipe back doesn't work. I have to press the back button to go back. otherwise its work fine is it ok?
