iCloud Family Storage not showing up (solution)

Hi there, I saw this thread got a lot of attention some time ago, and as it's locked due to its age, I can't post my solution there.

In case your Apple account has been added to a 'Family', but your iCloud has not updated to show the family storage available (rather than just your own storage, which may be full), do the following:

1. Go to Settings > Apple ID > Family Sharing (or simply type 'family' and search within the Settings app)
2. Under 'shared with your family', open iCloud+.
3. Access the family iCloud storage.

This means that although you were added to a Family, you had not yet gone into your Family's settings and manually chosen to access and avail of the iCloud+ Storage. Now you will be on the family plan.
