How should I sync my iPhone with iTunes to avoid losing information?

I accidentally uploaded my all of my itunes music from my pc to one drive. 85% of this music is not from the apple store. I have everything I want on my iphone currently, but I am scared that if I sync my iphone now that I will loose all my music on the iphone. Please help a friend out with this issue. Thanks

Syncing with an empty library will wipe the device. See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - Apple Community. The easiest method may be a temporary subscription to the Apple Music service, merging the music on the device into an iCloud Music Library which you then download to a computer and backup for security. In principle you can backup without syncing, but there is always a risk of an unintended sync. Backing up to iCloud should be safe. Ideally you'd backup to the cloud and locally so that if one fails to restore when needed you can try the other.

iTunes isn't designed to play nicely with third party cloud data systems like OneDrive or Dropbox. If the files are all still stored locally on your computer then things may work as normal, but if they are in the cloud not so much. Syncing may either trigger downloads, or just fail. And if you moved files manually from their original paths then you may have broken the links to the library. Do things still play in iTunes? Ideally you would revert to the way things were before. If you need to free up local storage Apple have iTunes Match or Apple Music to let you move your Music to the cloud in a way that should work properly.

Everything on my phone is perfect. On my pc are about 40 songs only. My question was if I sync my phone at this point to my itunes will I loose everything on my phone?

I do have a hard drive backup on my external drive that can be used if you can tell me how to do that. At this point I cannot backup my iphone anymore without the possibility of loosing everything.
