Are you saying that you enabled lost mode on the phone or someone who stole the phone enabled lost mode?

Even if someone stole the phone, they would have to know your passcode to get into the phone and make any changes. The phone was passcode protected, correct?

If the phone is displayed as "Offline" when you use the Find My app.....there are several reasons for this:

  • The battery has run down
  • The phone has been powered off
  • The phone does not have a connection to the Internet where it is currently located

In this case, all that you can do is keep checking every 3-4 hours to see if the status of the phone has changed.

As the phone was stolen, the theives probably just have it turned off.

Be on-guard for messages - often claiming to be from Apple - claiming to have found your phone and needing you to “authenticate” yourself, or to “login” to discover it’s location.

These are NEVER from Apple nor from anyone legitimate.

They ARE from the criminals attempting to steal your credentials so as to hijack your phone AND takeover your AppleID.

Do NOT reply, do NOT follow any links, and NEVER provide ANY of your personal info, payment info, or Apple credentials.

Please read the rest of my reply to see the reasons why the phone is not appearing in Find My at this time.

In addition, thieves are very fond of placing a stolen phone in a special type of bag that will not allow the phone to either send or receive a signal, even if it is powered on and the battery is good.

Unfortunately, if the status of the phone does not change in the next few days, the chances that you will ever see the phone again are just a tiny fraction above zero. Even if it might appear, hopefully you are not thinking about visiting the location and confronting the thief unless you have a police escort.
