Unable to Print from MacBook Air

Hi, my wife is having an issue printing to an HP wireless printer from her Macbook Air. I'm able to print from my Macbook Air, and both of us are able to print from our iPhones. She is able to print without difficulty on another printer at our second home (an Epson, in this case). But when she prints, the printer spits out multiple blank pages, with some of them having a few characters on them.

We have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the printer a couple of times, but it hasn't worked. The only thing I can think of is that we are reinstalling the new printer incorrectly. Any idaes?

It certainly sounds like her computer doesn’t have the correct printer driver installed. I’d open the printer control panel on her Mac and reset the printer system - hold ctrl and click on the printer driver. The printer driver(s) will be removed. Now click on the add printer button - but first make sure the printer is on and online so that the correct printer appears in the printer list.

Hi,

Would it be correct to assume that the HP wireless printer is connected to a Wi-Fi network (router), the same Wi-Fi network as the two MacBook Air computers and the two iPhones?

Are you using any software from the printer manufacturer on the computers and/or iPhones?

There is not any information about the exact HP printer, but if it can be used for printing from the iPhones without an additional app, it would be an AirPrint-supported model.

macOS versions for the computers?

You may want to try a full power-cycle procedure (do not forget the router):

Power off the Wi-Fi router, the HP printer, both MacBook Air computers and both iPhones. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the HP printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on both MacBook Air computers and both iPhones.
