Keeping pictures in only iCloud

How do you get rid of pictures & videos on your iPhone, but keep them in iCloud?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 12.7

iCloud Photos is a syncing service not a storage service. They will always be the same on any device that has iCloud Photos turned on. If you have more than one device using iCloud Photos, then it can be turned off on one device. In that case you can then delete the photos on that device and they will not affect the iCloud Photos that are available on the other devices. If it is turned off on all devices, then the photos in iCloud will only remain there for 30 days and after that, they will be deleted.
