MacBook Pro 2015 retina / Monterey 12.7.4 - battery optimisation

Disconnect the charging cable from the laptop & reconnect it. I have seen the older laptops stop charging for some unknown reason long before macOS 10.15 (usually about 71%). This trick gets it to progress past where it got stuck.

You can try an SMC Reset as well.

Have you tried my suggestion to disconnect the charging cable from the laptop for a moment & reattaching it? Like I said, I did see something similar on older laptops running older versions of macOS where they tended to stop charging somewhat regularly, but I believe it was almost always at 71%. However, maybe newer hardware, software, and firmware could have changed this somewhat....perhaps like you were surmising since it matches the 80% mark utilized by the later USB-C laptops for Optimized Charging. It still may be the same "bug" I noticed years ago. I never tried to look into the issue to see if I could determine if it was due to the battery itself or macOS.
