The first thing I'd try is booting into Safe Mode: Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support
Safe mode clears some caches and does some disk repair. Please allow it to run for several minutes to give it time to "scrub" things. At this point you can try running those apps it was crashing with and see if it still crashes.
There's a good chance this is a software issue. Do you have any anti-virus, Mac "Cleaner", Mac "Optimizer", or Mac "Speeder Upper" apps installed? If so, be aware they simply aren't needed with Macs, and almost always create issues rather than prevent them. Uninstall them using the vendors' uninstallers or instructions.
To help us diagnose this, please download, install, and run a free program, Etrecheck. This is a benign program that doesn't reveal any private information, but gives us a glimpse into several factors that can lead to what you're experiencing. Here's a link that contains a link to Etrecheck, along with instructions on how to post the report details here: How to use the Add Text Feature When Post… - Apple Community
Once you've posted the report here, we'll look it over and offer further advice.
