files- stop asking for older version

When I try to complete a document that I downloaded to my files and every time I open this file I get a prompt at the top of the screen saying “An older version of this document is available.” With a button to “show original”.

The edits are the entire point of the file. I don't have any use for the “original”. Being constantly prompted to open an old, outdated document is not helpful. Most programs send you to your most recent document. Apple is doing the opposite of the rest of the industry. It is very frustrating to have to delete the prompt over and over. I have lost current data by clicking the wrong space accidentally. How do I disable this useless feature?

Someone please make it stop! It used to never ask and show this message. It was great then. Turn this **** message off! Give us an option to turn it off. Thank you!

Did some digging but I finally found the way to fix it!

From Reddit:

“Agree this is annoying and triggers my OCD every time, I guess they should create a button “Don’t show again”.

But there is a hack around it, for example if you downloaded it from an email attachment:

1. Instead of downloading, long press the attachment in email app

2. Tap Copy

3. Open Files app

4. Choose a location/folder

5. Long press and Paste”
