Will Apple fix how the “Submit” key performs a different action (in messaging apps) on a hardware keyboard versus the onscreen keyboard?

Please allow us to customize the actions of the “Return” key when using the Magic Keyboard. The onscreen keyboard uses the “Return” key to insert a line feed, whereas the Magic Keyboard uses the same “Return” key as a “Submit” key in some apps (such as iMessage and Facebook Messenger).

I understand that by pressing Shift+Return the user can achieve a line feed, but this does not disable the Return key from performing the problematic “Submit” action. I know you may have your reasons, but please fix this to allow user consistency across various apps and across screen & hardware keyboards.
