I am just setting up a new macbook air MS OS 14.3.
I am trying to set up Touch ID. I press an lift my finger and nothing happens. I did ot for about 10 mins. Exited then went back and tried again. Restarted the computer and tried again.
Nothing happens. I am not gettina a message or any indication that anything is happening. Nothing at all.
What do I need to do?

Maybe it will work for you?
Go to System Settings--->Touch ID & Password. Click on the + button to add a finger, and see if it will accept it.

That didn't work either.
It's less than a day old - looks like I'll have to take it back.
That is exactly what I've been doing. I just tried again and the same thing happened.
There is no acknowledgement that I am trying to register a fingerprint. Nothing changes on the screen. I just keep touching the pad and lifting my finger. What is supposed to happen? How long should it take? How many touches should it take?
Nothing is happening.
