How do I move my Music library to an external HD?

Trying to move MUSIC to an external drive to free-up space on my MacAir--However,whenever I open Music, Get notice that iCloud Music Library is updating--possibly because since my Library is very large, this process goes on forever why?

Using Monterey--trying to move MUSIC to separate drive to make room for latest OS. MUSIC files in the cloud--can't move to separate drive til iCloud update finishes--but seems to be caught in a loop.

I successfully moved the Music App and it's files to an external drive.

I then dragged the Music App from the HD to the trash and emptied it.

However, when I look under "Storage" in "about this Mac", the Music files are still

there and can be opened again-- Meanwhile, altho there is no evidence that

I have Music stored in my iCloud account, whenever I open the Music App, a note appears at the bottom

of The Library page saying "iCloud is updating Music Library" with a spinning wheel that never finishes.

(My music collection is very large).If I go to my iCloud, there is no Music there--All of this is a mystery. Maybe time for a trip to the Genius Bar!.

Perhaps, but give it time if you have a huge library, like overnight or more.
