Assistive Touch and Apple Pay on Watch

After updating to watchOS 10.4, when I double press my Watch to use Apple Pay I get this message:

In the Watch settings I see:

I want to be able to pay using a simple double press. How do I do this?

It turns out that if I scrolled down a bit on my Watch settings, I see:

and I just needed to toggle this off. Now Apple Pay works again with the double press.

The first setting I saw was the AssistiveTouch, which was already off:

and that mislead me.

Thanks for the help. Much appreciated.

Prior to the 10.4 update, I was able to call up Apple Pay on my watch using the gestures feature under Accessibility. I would also be able to confirm with assistive touch using gestures, too. This allowed me to complete an Apple Pay transaction just using gestures on my left hand (ie Double Tap). Prior to the update it worked great and I fel it was pretty convenient.

However, after completing the update it doesn’t work the same. I can still call up Apple Pay on my watch using gestures, but when I try to confirm with gestures, it brings up the passcode screen. If I enter my passcode, Apple Pay will work. Seems like it defeats the purpose of Accessbility since it now requires two hands to do an Apple Pay transaction.

I’ve spoken to AppleCare support, level 1 and level, with no success. We have tried just about everything from restarting watch, iphone, unpairing watch, sent diagnostics, etc but was unable to resolve.

It was escalated to the Apple engineers to review, but the promised callback appointment never happened. So I tried calling Apple Care again. This time, the level 2 support person thought it might be an issue with the latest update. So, hopefully, a future update will resolve, but I will have to wait and see.
