iPad screen black line

I’ve just gotten my iPad and taken it out of my box to use and notice a thin black line underneath the home bar so I need to know should I return it or exchange it out or is that normal?

If your iPad is new - and you have any concerns whatsoever - you should consider returning it to the retailer from which it was purchased for exchange.

If you purchased directly from Apple, you have 14-days within which to unconditionally return your device for exchange or refund. If within your 14-days eligibility, you would be best advised to make use of the opportunity while it is available to you - otherwise you will be reliant upon remedy under warranty.

Returning to the issue, you can easily determine if you have a hardware or software issue. A reliable method to confirm a screen or other hardware fault is to take a screenshot when the fault is evident - and then review the captured screenshot image...

When reviewed, if the line is not present in the screenshot image, then you have demonstrated that you have a hardware fault. If the line is visible in the screenshot, the something other than hardware will be the cause.

Note: When reviewing the image, rotating the iPad screen orientation by 90°, from Portrait to Landscape, will ensure that the image does not coincide with screen defects if present.
