My touchscreen stopped working after iOS17.4 update yesterday on iPhone 15, whenever I connect it to computer it shows error that phone is in DFU mode while it isnt, its turned on normally asking to be unlocked. Now cant unlock the phone since touch isnt working and cant do anything on macbook due to DFU mode error.

Exactly the same issue:

  • Did the Security Update (as I normally always keep it up to date)
  • Upon Restart after update, Touch Screen No longer working.
  • Plugged into Computer to do a DFU, hoping a complete Factory Reset will resolve the issue.

But as someone pointed out, routine security update, should'nt have ended up in needing to do a complete factory reset. Hopefully the future updates will address this issue so more users are not in the same situation.

Update:

  • Took 3 Hours for the Phone to finish doing a complete Reset
  • 1hr to Restore from Cloud Backup
  • All Authentication Providers are gone (very painful for me to reset up)
  • Lost All Apple Pay Cards - With one only being a Virtual Card with over $100 Credit which is gone!!
  • Tickets stored in my Wallet for a future Event have also GONE, so no idea on how to get them back.

So Apple, not only did it cost me a time, but appears its to be financial Loss.

Please keep my experience in mind before going down the DFU path, but yes the phone Screen is at least working.
